Toyota’s first generation Prius hybrid was greeted with curious stares and skepticism. A decade later, the third generation Prius is one of the most popular and recognizable hybrid vehicles on the market. The Prius C features an edgier design with aerodynamic contours for a modern new look. This hybrid is also the least expensive of all the Prius models.
The last addition to the Prius family of vehicles is the Prius Plug-In. Operating on a rechargeable battery pack as well as gasoline engine, this model offers exceptional fuel economy since it can be powered by just the electric battery for up to 13 miles. Once it reverts back to the hybrid power-train system, it functions like any other Prius and maintains optimal efficiency. The battery takes a mere three hours to fully charge on a standard 110-volt outlet while a 220- or 240-volt socket can reduce the time in half.
